Our Doctor

Dr. Goebel attended Loyola Marymount University and completed her optometric training at the New England College of Optometry in Boston in 1987.  She was most recently a staff optometrist at the Veterans Administration Hospital here in Fresno and had faculty appointments at the New England College of Optometry and Pacific University School of Optometry (Oregon).

She has lived in the Fig Garden area for 20+ years, from which she and her husband Paul raised a son and a daughter.

Dr. Alesha Jensen was born and raised here in the valley. One of the early “Smittcamp fellows” at Fresno State University, she epitomizes the program’s goal of “keeping talent in the valley.” She decided to pursue the profession of optometry due to her experiences and observations of Drs. Cole, Cole, and Krohn. She excelled in her studies and came to the practice in 2010 with significant experience and recommendations from her teachers, advisors, and mentors.

Dr. Jensen is married to Landon and they have two children.

Dr. Jeffrey Krohn and his wife moved to Fresno in 1989 with their son, Austin. Over the past 30+ years in Fresno, they have been involved with church and community activities, have had 3 daughters (Aubrey, Olivia, and Emmaline), and have been blessed with a great staff and great friends.

The year 2023 brought an unexpected “shift” in his professional focus and address. Following a “call” his wife received to join the staff of a church in Castro Valley (located in the East Bay region of San Francisco), they moved in with their daughter, Aubrey, and will now be living in Northern California.

Dr. Krohn was pleased to accept a position on the faculty of UC Berkeley’s Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Visual Science as an Associate Clinical Professor. He will be working with the student clinicians and residents at the Minor Hall facility two days a week. Dr. Krohn will also be available on a limited basis to see established patients at Fig Garden Optometry for the foreseeable future.

Dr. Alicia Liao was born and raised in Southern California. An avid learner, she graduated with honors from UC Irvine with degrees in Biology, Education, and Biotechnology Management. After dabbling in various healthcare specialties, Dr. Liao was drawn to optometry for its potential to change lives, beginning with improving the everyday vision of others.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Southern California College of Optometry, Dr. Liao was persuaded by her fiancé to move to the Valley. Since then, they have married and have one child!  She has come to love the nature, fresh fruit, culture, and people of the Fresno area.

In her free time, you can catch Dr. Liao hiking, baking, visiting dogs at the local shelter, and exploring new eateries with friends.
